Our Pre-school is now under new management (April 2012)
We warmly welcome you and your child to Grayshott Little Sunflowers. This website has been produced to provide you with information about our school. We believe that Little Sunflowers provides a safe, stimulating and exciting environment for your child to learn and play. For more information please contact us.
Vera Frank-Schultz has taken over the management of Grayshott Little Sunflowers. She has experience as pre-school manager where she achieved excellent results as well as a stint as Year R and one teaching assistant which has given her insight into the challenges that your child will face during the transition to school.
Vera integrates the latest, up to date, teaching practices with traditional values.
Our Aims
At little sunflowers we are very proud of a few simple aims :-
- We aim to provide high quality care and education for children in a secure environment
- Each child is valued so that they may develop their social, creative and academic skills
- To work in partnership with parents and provide an environment where parents feel welcome
- To promote an atmosphere of praise and encouragement which promotes equality and values diversity
- Parents are involved in shaping the service offered
As part of Little Sunflowers your child will :-
- enjoy generous care and attention because of our high ratio of adults to children
- be supported by well qualified staff to take his/her development forward by learning and build on what he/she already knows and can do
- have a personal key person who ensures good progress
To provide the best for your child we encourage parental involvement and our ‘Homelink’ book provides an opportunity for child, parent and teacher to share in Little Sunflowers if there is no time to do it verbally on arrival in the mornings. As a charity Little Sunflowers is a non-profit making organisation and we are always keen to encourage parents to take an active role in their child’s education and in the running of our pre-school. Our management committee meet twice a term and all parents help contribute to our fund-raising activities. These contributions are an essential part of Little Sunflowers. Grayshott Little Sunflowers pre-school recognises parents as the first and most important educators of their children. The staff work in partnership with you in providing care and education for your child. We work closely with the Pre-school Learning Alliance, Hampshire County Council, Children's Links and the Early Years Education and Childcare Unit and Ofsted.
Little Sunflower's Policies
The staff and parents of the pre-school work together to adopt our policies and everyone has the opportunity to take part in the annual general meeting when policies are reviewed. This helps us to ensure that our policies enable the pre-school to provide a safe and inclusive environment in which all children can thrive and families are valued and supported. Policy documents are available to read at any time.

Ofsted Report 2010
" The pre-school has a very welcoming and fully inclusive ethos which ensures that all children are secure and happy...The high ratio of qualified and enthusiastic staff ensures that children are helped to achieve well and are kept extremely safe."
"The good progress they make in confidence and skills stands them in good stead for the next stage of their education."
"Many of the play activities [staff] introduce are imaginatively implemented...Because the children become so engrossed in activities, they learn quickly, and make very good progress."
"The pre-school is very effective in meeting the children's personal, social and academic needs, and lays a solid foundation for their future education."
